Why throw something out if you don't have to? In my basement, I had an old wooden pallet that would be perfect for a construction project. Being a big fan of rustic handmade products, I decided to build a custom plant holder for my living room.
Pulling out all the nails by hand proved to be a challenge. In fact, it was a pretty difficult balance of using force and caution as to not break the wood in the process. Of course, that did happen despite my gentle attempt. Anyways, it was on to some hand-sawing.
As it turns out, I actually enjoy the ruggedness of the box. It gives it a very rustic and natural feel that seems even more unique and custom. The next step was to add plastic into the box itself, that way no water would seep through upon watering the plant.
Initially, I wanted to use an ivy plant that I had sitting around. However, when I placed it in, something seemed a bit off. Perhaps, due to it's size. I then opted for a larger, more lush type plant that would hang over the edge. All in all, I'm pretty excited on the turn out.
Thanks for joining!
