Deconstruct Venice
The dots, lines, and surfaces of Le Biennale di Venezia
I went to Venice, Italy on a study abroad program in 2010 and visited the ruined site of last year's Le Biennale di Venezia.  When all the artworks inside the pavilions are gone, the exteriors of the pavilions became a kind of isolated existence, and decays with time till the next Biennale 700 days later. The fallen tress leaves, broken door, and graffiti and manifestos on the wall make it so surreal to imagine the numerous artworks and visiters that were filled here several months ago.  Is there a end point for exhibiting art? Can those abandoned pavilions be considered as art, though it was left there without such intension? Is art defined by its intensions?

On the site of ruined pavilions for the largest contemporary art event I deconstructed arts into its most basic elements: dots, lines, and surface.  The tension between organized and chaos, straight and curves, directionality and non directionality reveals themselves in the diptych form.
