OVERVIEW

The publication is about built environment in Melbourne. Melbourne is a growing city with opportunities to increase spaces for jobs and accommodation for an increasing population. From the images captured in the book, it shows not only zoomed in or part pictures of buildings but also man-made structures that provide the setting for human activity, ranging in scale from buildings to roads to green space, including supporting infrastructure that can be found along the streets of Melbourne city. These images capture the essence and character of Melbourne city.

PROBLEM

To produce photographs on found types (A to Z) within a chosen theme and creating a publication from it.

SOLUTION

In order for the images to stand out, the concept was to keep it simple and minimal, using white space to provide balance with the photographs and text. The typeface, Avenir, was also chosen for the book as it means “future” in French, which fits Melbourne well as a city with potential for growth.
