At the beginning of the semester we were told pick an object and to take 10 pictures a week until the end of the semester. This object was to become a "pet" and we were to take interesting pictures without knowing our end goal.
As we made it to about half way through the semester we were asked to find an article that we would match the photos that we had been taking to and create a cohesive project.
I struggled to find an object that I thought would be interesting to take photos of and find an article that I thought would be interesting or informative.
My husband is a diabetic and so we had needles often thrown away after being used. I thought well I could go a few different directions one could be drugs and the other could be diabetes.
In the end I decided to go with diabetes since we had so many different things that go along with it. As it came time to put everything together, I found that what I had taken pictures of did not really match well.
Which meant that I needed to go back to the drawing board so to speak and I read through the article and found different key phrases that I wanted to try to show in picture form.
I took out my camera and reset up some of the same scenes and added different objects to get the point across. I also started from scratch to come up with others. Some of the new photos that I took have ended up being some of my strongest and some of my favorites.
As I have gone back and looked at some of the iterations that I created in the beginning it is easy to see that it has gotten stronger the more that I have worked with it. While parts of this project have been beyond frustrating I feel that the final result has made those parts worth it.
