Walking The Dogs

Canvey Island, an island in the south east of Essex, and one packed with history, but one where you'll be hard pushed to find coconuts hanging from palm trees and beaches of white sands and blue seas.

The one thing that Canvey does have however, are great sunsets. During the summer months in particular Canvey is blessed with brilliant pink skies at sunset that can rival those of the most beautiful backdrops.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing three very different bread of dog with Canvey Island being the backdrop.
The first was late in the day in order to capture some brilliant blue skies. The other two during the day. The result being very different.

Let's start with Lottie, a Pug whose excitement levels were off the chart. I always knew that this shoot was going to be a challenge due to this. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well she sat for the camera.
Then there was Cooper, a French bulldog who has calmed with age. I say with age, he's still very young, but in comparison to his sister (Lottie) he comes across as super-chilled.
I was a lot more aware of what to expect with Cooper as all I needed to do was have a treat waved where I needed him and bingo.  There were of course a few missed shots due to my timing being off but I don't think Cooper minded as this meant more treats.
To finish, there was Moby.  A mongrel rescued from the streets and put up for adoption. Naturally he remains somewhat apprehensive of new people and things, so this shoot was going to be a challenge as to how much I was going to be able to do.
