Introduction
There are two main kinds of basic information that are as much necessary
for life as breathing or sleeping: first informs us where we are in topographical terms, second tells us who we are in the society. From the earliest twilight of mankind a man was in need of recording these types of information in the aging-resistant form in order to deliver them to the others. The desire for recognizing our place in space produced one of the most traditional infographics ever created by a man: a map. A necessity of ensuring the consciousness of the relations people have with the society was the mother of another great infographics invention: a genealogical tree (family tree, familiae arboreum). The graphic form is more communicative and direct in expression (especially when the huge amount of data must be presented) than written messages. Therefore the symbolic and illustrative visual information is dominant when people deal with space (plain, horizontal—to our experience) or historical time of their ancestors (vertical, passing from top to bottom or vice versa—to our intuitive recognition).

Assignment Process
The genealogical follows through five generations of my father's family. The tree is expressed through the antlers of a deer because of the amount of hunters in the family, whether it was for sport or for survival. Each member is either represented by a bird (male) or a flower (female) with ties of a vine if they were/are married. The typeface used was Gill Sans for legibility and readability purposes.
