Underneath the Skin (Series)
Each size: up to 16.5”w x 17”h x 4”d (in), Porcelain, Red Yarn, Wood, Stable ink, 2015
This series represents the union of the physical and emotional selves. Porcelain is used to emulate the fluidity of skin, stitched together with red yarn. Each piece is depicted on a wooden block sketched with my daydreams. The mental and emotional lie underneath the physical, unified by the literal and metaphoric act of sewing. Each panel represents a different set of dreams and feelings in need of unifying with the physical self.
