ThunderStorm Dinner

For the topic of Food and Technology, we decided to create some unique experience to appropriate people's behavior. Specifically, dinner manner!
In order to do that, we designed a dining environment which would punish the user while we detect any inappropriate behaviors. For example, if the participant is eating too fast, the thunder storm will pour on him! If the behavior is regulated, the thunderstorm would stop, otherwise it will continue in a more dramatic way.
The project is demoed in Fooddock, which is almost like a site for permanent food-festival selling delicious food from all over the world. We prepared our own soup and let anyone interested participates.
Eventually, all the components of detecting dining behaviors are embedded on the spoon, within that grey handle. I also built the wooden plate, which has some cheap weight sensors inside to help calibrating and judging dining behaviors based on how fast they consume the food.
We collaborate with each other in a team of four, we had fun and it was really a cool project. We used our own money to buy planks to construct the room, we decorated it, we programmed the little gadgets to serve the purposes. We were really having fun and creating some unique experience rather than something just functional but boring! Many family they came to us with they kids and yelling about the interesting phenomenons, complaining about each other's “inappropriate behaviors”. That was just amazing!
