Final project of Illustration Studio module- illustration book

The story i chose is about a child with autism, illustrated in fantasy style.

The reason i came up with this topic is from the video i found here which completely change my view about autistic child, and inspires me to use this topic.
Here, i try to spread an understanding about what people with autism experience, what makes them the way they are, and what they capable to do.
Some of them have hypersensitive senses. They likely feel every bit of their clothing, every bright light, spray of perfume, crinkle of shopping bags, sideways glance from passerby, and any small things normal people won't notice. And thus, too much information for their brain to handle.

But, they also have potential to become a success, in fact, many of them are geniuses, having high IQs!
Though of course, for that, they need supporter and guidance. Rather than trying to change them, we need to give them the supports and coping skills they need.

The role of parents is important. The process might be different from normal children, harder, takes time and patience, but the result will worth it.

They prefer to stay home, where they feel more comfortable and peace, play with their imagination; imaginary friend, and imagining themselves as something else (thus i draw the autistic child as a rabbit)

The leash in the illustration to represent the mother in this story being strict and controlling him because she afraid of him being naughty and out of control in the public, seeing him as a naughty child, which is not helping. But after gain knowledge and understanding about her child, she accept the way he is, and guide him properly, until he become success and able to manage his syndrome (thus i draw him as human, though he still have the rabbit's tail)
