La Boheme: Intimate Apparel/ Sleepwear Collection
Free People has been dressing the free spirited girl for years now. After looking on the website, their sleepwear page only consisted of a few very basic garments. I thought this was a perfect white space for this project.
This Spring/Summer sleepwear collection was first inspired by 19th century Paris bohemians, the second-generation bohemians. I looked at the city of Montmartre where they lived and spent most of their time. Then I came across a woman named Madame de Florian who lived in Montmartre during this time and the Belle Époque. She lived a very luxurious lifestyle, which was paid for by her multiple boyfriends. This lifestyle inspired the garments in this collection.
My idea customer is a woman in her late 20s/early 30s who is openly confident with herself. She gets what she wants and enjoys splurging on luxurious lingerie and sleepwear on occasion.
The soft pink and mint were found throughout her apartment, as well as the burgundy. The golden browns were taken from 19th century Parisian architecture. The fabrics used are velvet, which was a sign of wealth during that time period, a variety of laces, and satin. All are soft and stretch to make for comfortable sleepwear.
