HISTORY

Under the director, Thomas Krens, who led many of Guggenheim projects, Frank Gehry, Canadian-American architect, was greatly challenged with the size of the project and the perilous location that was in derelict zone.
Frank Gehry’s way of working and thinking allowed the project to be successful. As random curves catch light, the building became an important connector between the city and the surrounding nature. “[Gehry] does not think of the volumes of his buildings within the confines of abstract space (which is also the space of economics); rather, he engages these volumes in intimate relationships with one another.”

EXTERIOR

In 1997, the Guggenheim Bilbao was opened in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. The Museum is made up
with glass, titanium, and limestone, and along with the Nerion River, which runs through the Bilbao to the
Atlantic Cost, the building looks harmonious with the nature not only because of the material it is built with but also because of the shape of the building. In the book, ‘Four Museums’ it says, “As a luminous cave on the inside, a metallic mountain from without, the museum appears to be both a perfect fit and a perfect stranger
in its site.”

INTERIOR

“At Bilbao, Gehry has been planning with and for artists, providing spaces for special commissioned installations as well as flexible galleries for the inevitable variety of exhibition displays.”
Dynamic Logo Design

Journal

I designed the journals within the color scheme. Every page has different colors to go along with the tag line, "Make Everyday Different". Although the journal does not state the months, I chose the seasonal colors from the color scheme and put them on the top along the different shape of edges which are referring to different edges of the building. The colors start from January, which belongs to the Winter. I hoped the shapes of the edges and the colors would add something different from other journals.

The journal has introduction pages, monthly pages, daily pages, and blank pages.
 Cover

There are two covers: orange and dark blue. The cover have a book mark and a penholder. Also there are magnets hidden to hold
the journal together.
Pen

10 pens are packaged. They are individually rapped in the same patterns as the logo.
Postcard

There are 4 sets of 2 postcards (total 8). The top edges and colors are the same edges and colors from the journal.
Sticker

8 sheets of stickers are included. Each sticker is designed with the "Guggenheim Bilbao look" that goes along with the logo and the journal. The stickers are to help users not only to organize the journal but also to elaborate the journal in more unique and fun ways.
Package

The journal, 2 covers, 10 pens, 8 postcards, and 8 sheets of stickers are packaged in a box. The box is designed to open wide to help users take things in and out comfortably.
