Bug Bites: furniture designed, planned, built and finished by Chachi.
This piece was created to store portfolio pieces, art supplies, large sheets of paper, and prints. It is a modular map cabinet with a portable drafting table.
The design is inspired by traditional map cabinets. All measurements follow the Fibonacci Sequence. The modular format allows the piece to be 3 separate pieces of furniture or 1 piece depending on the size of the home or office. Legs can be added to each of the three sections. The portable drafting table top contains all drafting equipment.
The wood used is Poplar & "Ambrosia" maple. The Poplar has been stained to look like Walnut. The drawer faces and inset panels in each section are bookmatched.
About Ambrosia Maple: The Ambrosia beetle eats through the Maple tree and the cells around the hole die and the wood gets covered in a blue fungus. Not pictured: Installed brass hardware
