Tea Light Candle Holder

Final Three Prototypes
The aim of the project was to create a tea light candle holder that would hold one candle. The design had to be inspired by 50s, 60s or 70s furniture design.

Concept Sketches
Mock-ups, made from foam.
Final Concept Sketches
CAD models were done to give a better idea of the final product.
Next I moved onto the stage of creating the pattern. The pattern is made out of MDF and has a coat of sand sealer to create a smooth surface.
A box was create around the pattern and now the silicone was ready to be poured in.
Below is a video showing the pouring of the silicone.
The silicone was left to set for 24 hours. The mold at this point is done and I am now ready for casting to start.
First material used to cast with was Plaster of Paris. We used food colorant to give the plaster its colour.
Second material was Smooth-Cast 300. Mixed with ink and food colorant.
Third Material was Material One. With marble dust and food colorant.
Last material used was Epoxy Clear Cast. In one we put silver dust.
The holders that were not chosen for the final presentation.
The copper, gold, chrome and cast iron holders were sprayed after the casting was done.
