FLY on the WALL
FESTIVAL DESIGN
This is hot off the press!
My most recent project in third year Visual Communication. The brief was to come up with a festival idea, name it, and design it's identity & promotional material. The FLY on the WALL festival is a mobile phone film & documentary festival. The emphasis of the festival is hands on audience participation, with a 24 film challenge at the end. The promotional material aims to be as interactive as the festival's objectives with moving postcards, spinning wheels and pop up program. The link between the past and the present derived from research into early film. We have come a long way in a short time.

Logo for the FLY on the WALL festival. Research into optical illusions/hidden objects, the fly's compound eye and the digital screen guided my final solution.
The poster introduces the three characters used through out the promotional material. Their presence is a result of research into early film making, and represent the speed of change in our technological era.
Animated advert - designed to be played at the beginning of YouTube clips.
NB - poor quality footage.
The spinning billboard is designed to be spun by either wind or human power. When in motion, the two images merge, revealing the fly in the logo.
The promotional postcard has a concealed tab, which when spun makes the screen of the mobile phone appear to flicker.
The program has a pop up front cover, which resembles the old pop up box camera.
 Inside spread of the program.
 Various program page spreads.
Promotional spinning wheel. Using the fly motif, when spun it appears to fly - inspired by Edwardian era toys.
