We Always Had Wings

Mural completed in collaboration with 15 Highschool Girls and their portraits who share migration histories from the US/Mexico Border. Bird featured is the Yellow-Billed Cuckoo and endangered species of bird that travels across the US Mexico border to California and back. The butterfly is the endangered El Segundo Blue Butterfly a symbol of residence.. This mural was taught along with several stencil and poetry workshops where they cut out their faces and wrote poems about their migration experiences.
