A Face for the Homeless

Our assignment was to create a cardboard capsule in which 1 person could spend the night. Since so many people don’t have a safe place to spend the night, I decided to dedicate my work to them, to help others like myself learn about their situation.
The capsule consists entirely of squares, like a frame. Putting something in a frame focuses the attention on it. Every square represents a homeless person between the 10 and 18 years, so roughly about 9000 squares in total. There are no pictures in order to protect their anonimity.

Because this is a work about hope just as much as about confrontation, I felt the need to add another symbol. Throughout the work, I added windmills, which made the general appearance more playful, like those 9000 individuals should be able to be.
