Woolworths Halloween Family Characters

I was asked by inhouse designers at the Shop Direct Group to create a friendly Halloween family with a nod towards the classic horror characters. The aim was to promote the range of fancy dress costumes they sell. This was the result, and they ran across various pages of the Woolworths online store during the Halloween period.

Here they can creep out of the shadows once again.

I normally start with pencil sketches which are cleaned up either in pencil or using a brush pen. I scan them into Photoshop, create a transparent layer containing just the linework (which I can then recolour) and start adding layers of colour. Blocks of colour first and working down to small details, finally adding and adjusting shadow and highlight areas.
