Day // One
Title: Fragile
Technique: Full colour DSLR Photography
Process: This image was captured in the tutorial, sitting on the stairs of the building at University. The saturtion was increased and some colours were enhanced in digital editing programs.
Reasoning: Often the most important things in ones life require the most care. This may include but is not limited to family and friends, sentimental physical items and memories. The fire hydrant is a form of symbolism, and makes me consider that people don't place importance on things that can literally save their lives.
Reflection: I attempted to capture my own definition of photojournalism- trying to find images which would invoke a higher level of thinking from the audience.
Day // Two
Title: Someone is awake
Technique: Full colour DSLR Photography
Process: This was a spur of the moment photograph. I stood on a large concrete block on the side of the road to get a better angle.
Reasoning: This image was taken at 12am in the morning, when normal people are sleeping, or at least in bed. However this window, which may have been a study or a bedroom was still well lit. Who is still awake? Why?
Reflection: Today, I was practicing with direction of light. The brightness from the bottom left guides the eye diagonally to the middle of the image where the only window in the building was lit. The image ended up quite a bit grainier than I would have hoped, but I think the effect adds to a rustic feeling image.
Day // Three
Title: Love?
Technique: Iphone 5, while walking.
Process: I thought that perhaps instead of standing still to get a perfect image, i'd continue walking along and see how the image came out. While it obviously wouldn't make sense to photograph this way for every shot, I think it adds a movement that I don't think is explored enough in photography.
Reasoning: On my travels I came across an attempt at a replica of Pont de l'Archevêché  of France, in Brisbane. Although I thought it especially lame, I couldn't help but think about the different couples that put those locks on the bridge, who they were, which lock was there first, and what made them think it was a good idea to do that...
Reflection: I think that this photograph has inspired me to continue to attempt to photograph moving subjects, such as people and vehicles. I think if anything, this is most symbolic of photojournalism- as this is the most effective way to portray a story. People are always moving, and going places.
Day // Four
Title: U R
Technique: Full colour DSLR Photography
Process: After a few attempts trying to capture the image with the flash, it didn't come out the way that i had wanted. I adjusted the exposure levels on my camera and retook.
Reasoning: Walking around campus I saw the U-Block illuminate from quite far away... I was reminded of the old saying that goes along the lines of "you are the light of my life". I angled the camera up slightly to signify a sort of high appreciation, i.e how a follower sees an idol or god. To me that effectively portrayed a relationship that one would really appreciate.
Reflection: I have found that I really enjoy working in photography in the night. While it 's harder to get a good photo, due to the lack of light- shadows and gorgeous colours can be captured.
Day // Five
Title: Morning tea break
Technique: Photographed on iphone 5
Process: This photograph was taken through the window of a moving bus.
Reasoning: This is a very symbolic picture, and requires the audience to read between the lines, with the help of the props in the image. In this case, there is a feeling that someone who belongs there, or at least has been there. However, there is no human subject in the picture. It invokes a story, and forces the viewers to reflect on what happened to the person that once belonged there.
Reflection: I think this is one of my favourite photographs, and it was taken whilst on the bus through the Brisbane CBD. This is a huge step-up from the previously intentionally-fuzzy image 2 days ago titled "love". I really enjoyed this week of image producing, and I feel it has hugely assisted me in growing my skill.
