The Path is the story of a mute boy reeling through a personal tragedy trying to find his place in the world.
This narrative driven game inspired by the like of Oxenfree and Telltale's, The Walking Dead is an exploration into using "emotional outbursts" and music as the driving mechanic for communication.
As the protagonist's backstory revolves around tragedy and loss we created the main characters around Kubler-Ross's model of 5 stages of grief. With each character representing a stage of grief.
As a nod to the whole theme of grief and how people are puppets of their emotions when grieving we decided to proceed with a theater/puppet show inspired art style.
The art direction overall took an inspiration from Wes Anderson's films.
This game was prototyped on Unity 3D engine. 3D art and animation was done using Autodesk Maya, 3Ds Max and Cinema 4d.
