Housing for Urban Migrants : SKIN (LIVE)

This above project is currently being piloted across Bangalore for the Urban Migrant Communities.

The next few slides explain the background of our project : Housing for Urban Migrants, which eventually led to our project, 'Skin'.
Housing for Urban Migrants or the H.U.M Project is a project initiated by the Built Environment team at SELCO Foundation. The project reflects community understanding while looking into issues of population under abject poverty. It is a team effort with few initiatives taken by me which shall be explained further.

After the first phase of H.U.M, facing resistance from landlords who saw us as a third party capable of disrupting the symbiotic relationship between them and the slum dwellers, our work shifted towards low profile awareness building  activities starting from the basics i.e. Incorporating natural lighting and ventilation (N.L.V.) in their existing dwelling. The next few slides show explorations for natural lighting and ventilation which ultimately led to the design of 'Skin'
