Reversible Emergency Blanket Bomber Jacket

Sophomore year collaboration with Sarah Wedge, MFA student in Textiles 2016, as apart of her masters thesis.

Jacquard woven, wool and metallic thread.
This fabric was part of a series modeled after the mylar emergency blanket. It is a play between extremes. The original mylar emergency blanket is used in emergency situations, for patients suffering hypothermia in unkind climates, or under some great physical duress. The actual blanket is lightweight and purely utilitarian, often used in life or death situations.
This woven jacquard is made of wool, which is a soft and comforting fabric on one side. On the other, the jacket is ornate metallic. The functional reflectivity of the mylar space blanket becomes beautiful, decorative, symbolic.
