Lighting Without a Bulb: OLED Vanity Mirrors

OLED Vanity Mirrors

This project was a bread design submission to the OLED “Lighting Without a Bulb” competition, where designers sought to find the best use for OLED’s revolutionary lightweight, warm-light LED panels.  As the lead designer for this project, I created a product line of high end vanity mirrors that fits precisely into current luxury makeup mirror markets, with flexibility to expand into any realm of home mirror products.  The final submission consisted of my Rhino CAD designs and Photoshopped environments, coupled with my partner’s Showcase renderings of my designs.
Given the professional quality of the light, bread’s Creative Director suggested I look into Broadway mirrors and Conair home vanity mirrors as opportunities to add the OLED technology. From there, I created the designs above and right, with various bases of clear acrylic large enough to visually offset the slender mirror and OLEDs, yet transparent enough to maintain the light, airy quality of these slender lights. Each of these mirrors are estimated to weigh only 3-5 lbs, complimenting the luxury quality of the OLED panels. The larger mirror shows a possible extension to the line, and the renderings below show these mirrors in context of a target home bath.
