Tektite, Indochinite. pastel pencils on hand-toned paper, 10” x 16”. 2015. Tekties are formed when a huge meteorite collides into the earth with such a force that it liquefies upon impact, mixes with earth material and is throne at high speed into the upper atmosphere. During this time the material cools and hardens preserving its splash melted shapes. Upon returning they have the classic outer space pitting and scars. Indochinite Tektites are the best known of the Tektites. They are usually found in a classic teardrop, dumbbell or Cigar shapes.
