Envelop(e)

A booklet with cut-outs that reveal the hidden interiors of security envelopes.

A line of text located in the inner margin tell what was once contained in the envelope - Weekly Update from the Family: Mum got new shoes, Dad picked up golf, Brother failed Math exam. The patterns are a protective layer - an enclosing structure, shell or skin - for a phone bill, college acceptance letter, birthday card.
