The Tengu lives above the clouds
on mountain peaks so high
and if you should harm his forest home
you’ll see his arrows fly.
The manticore, that fearsome beast of teeth and spiny tail
was hunted by the sultan’s men, brave soldiers strong and tall.
Alas for them, their gallant hunt was sadly doomed to fail:
with horrid roars he pounced on them and ate them, bones and all.

these words of dire warning should never be forgot:
don’t look up, don’t make a sound as that old witch goes by
or she’ll snatch you up and steal you, and put you in her pot.
