Chroma[RED]
New limits of the space
Chroma[RED] is an interactive installation which has placedin public and semipublic spaces in Los Angeles, California. This project is focused on the perception of the object inside the space in order to stimulate people to experience a new recreation of it through interaction. Each individual experience makes invisible tangible limits, developing a dialogue that induces the observer to create new limits, dynamics and interpretations of the space. The behavior of the system is defined by different ranges of brightness and proximity, which produces multiple motions. In the end, the observer and Chroma[RED] establish a conversation in terms of movements, light and ranges of distance, that generates a new atmosphere and a new space. Chroma[RED] is composed by 74 components in translucent resin; each one of them was designed to allow the installation of four super-bright LED lights to create different levels of luminosity. In addition, Chroma[RED] has a structure composed by 105 identical groups of three assembled acrylic pieces, which are capable of structural resistance. Three of these groups are designed to attach proximity sensors and servos, vital elements to generate movement. This project encourages the exploration in fields of fabrication, interaction, physical computing and space; all of them are focused on materializing virtual concepts in order to transform the space producing new experiences and landscapes.
