Hinterland (2016) is an exploration into the documentation and categorization of the natural world. This ecological survey takes place on top of a sculpture that supports an assortment of different organisms on its surface. The multimedia work is presented in 3 parts. There is the sculpture, made of foam, cast cement, dirt and living plants and animals. There is also a documentary film (10:00 min) that mimics programs like Planet Earth and other BBC films to give an in depth description of the biodiversity present in the work, and there is a gouache painting depicting a map, naming the different regions of the sculpture and explaining what characteristics differ from region to region.
