Optical art and art quilting are two artistic fields that rarely cross each other’s boundaries. My goal was to marry the visual language of the Op Art movement with the practice of art quilting. Art quilts are unique because they are not created to be functional – their sole purpose is to be displayed on the wall as artwork. The compositions I have created explore pattern, color, and scale to the fullest, and offer different visual experiences for the audience depending on whether they are viewed up close or far away.
