The Thesis

The thesis design project delved into the archaeological history of the ancient city of Dwarka in the Western coast of India. There are several mythological stories attached to this ancient city which is said to have been swept away by a tsunami several 1000s of years ago. The waters off the banks of the present day city of Dwarka have a lot of relics and artifacts buried underwater to lend credibility to the existence of this mythological city. The thesis was about the design of a museum for the display of these ancient artifacts and to show people the richness of the culture. The museum was designed to be an underground museum giving the impression of being underwater. Several types of indirect natural lighting techniques have been employed in this design.
