Carved in Stone | Instructor: Melissa Ferreira | Size: ~(8" x9") | Materials: Reed, plaster, foam, mix media | This series examines two-dimensional and three-dimensional planes. Architectural forms are imposed onto the surface of rounded objects, the "rocks." The structures follow the curvature of the rocks, skewing the perspective and creating surreal environments. By becoming part of the surface rather than projecting outwards, the architecture becomes almost textural, a relief sculpture.
