Hils is a project aimed to provide children with a arsenal of tools in which they can peacefully dismantle the Israeli Occupation in Palestine. I choose to design for children as they are growing up under this oppressive regime, and quite frequently are targets of the political crisis there. After conducting research based on lived experiences, as well as interviews from Palestinian friends and professors I came to the following result. I play toy made from mushrooms, kids can learn agricultural, basic to advanced construction, and formal aspects of design. Mushrooms being a versatile organism with innovative properties was something that can be create inside Palestinian borders without hassle of Israeli checkpoints. Mushrooms are also a resilient crop in Palestine, and are spatially sustainable. My goal was to create a project that could hit multiple pinch points while being sustainable. Ideally these toys could fufill educational, contruction, nourishment, and agricultural purposes.
