SEEING
final major project
Through this project i am portraying how there is more to a person that what meets the eye. How people view themselves is most likely not how you would view them, first impressions count a lot however, doesn't mean there initially true. Through out the project there will be a series of posters which will show how you would judge someones image before you got to know them as there background/situation is different to what you would first assume. Thankyou
This is the image that i chose too use out of all the snaps of Holly.
Here i am using different techniques that i may use on my final project.
Practicing doing the bruises with make-up on my arms
Pictures of Jermaine and his body, for the Anorexic shoot
Final edited image of Jermaine to make him look anorexic.
Pictures that i took of Liz for skin condition poster.
I edited Vitiligo onto Liz's face/body and then Acne on the other picture.
Pictures of Jermaine for the tattoo shoot.
Photoshop'd Tattoo's and piercings onto Jermaine.
Photos taken of Liz and Holly, attempting to portray a lesbian shot. It proved difficult as they both found it hilarious.
I looked at this video for inspiration as to what i could write in the head line for my Tattoo poster.
Here's a few Advertisements i looked at for inspiration...
I feel that the above 4 images relate to my project as its showing self perception.
I really like how the image is still very much so the main focus to the poster and how the text is visible and easy to read layered on top of the image.
The video above is what gave me the initial idea for my video. I chose to go with the story line that you would instantly judge Karlo because of his tattoo's however, if you looked deeper into his life you would possibly/hopefully see him in a whole different light, so i thought if you could see that he had a daughter, a motive in life, someone who he loves it would change your perspective of him. So Karlo is the main focus in my video along side Evie (his daughter, in the video).
I planned a script for Karlo to go by...

I stand out just for standing up...
Its weird walking into a room full of people that have never seen you before and knowing straight away that theyve already got you down as a good for nothing with ink scratched into what was once an innocent guy.
Because thats all it is, the ink... but no tattoo could ever sink deeper toward my heart than the love i have for her...
And so none of it even matters, shes the proudest moment of my life and i can live off that.
I am who i am.
Describe the development and principles of editing -
The principles of video editing are to firstly have a message to portray to the viewers (Dont judge someone by there appearance because theres always more to someone than you first think)
Also to make the edits invisible, so fades, fade clips together, the viewers are not meant to be able to know where a shot started or ended, you have to overlay and cut so everything runs right on time.
Keep it continuous and flowing so it all makes sense and comes together.
Bear audio in mind, as a video is always more enjoyable and understandable when audio has been used. (Sounds of traffic and Evie's voice in the background with Karlo saying the script over the top).

Development -
I started with drawing out a story board, which is in my sketch book.
I got various shots of Karlos face, close up, so you can see how detailed his tattoo's are.
I then framed shots panned out so you could see his whole image and body language also shots of him moving about, doing his own thing, to make it look natural.
I then got takes off Karlo and Evie hugging, Evie running up to Karlo like she was pleased to see her Dad, which i shot from several angles to try and capture a different emotion.
I got them both to hold hands and smile at each other then look to camera so you could see the bond between them also, I wanted a shot where Karlo was looking away and then Evie comes into shot and takes his cap which you then see them bonding/ chasing around, you see the connection between them and how he really adores her, trying to prove that there is more too him that his tattoo's/image.
Between all the footage the screen will go blank with the sound still playing, too give off a deep, slow moving effect so it gives you chance too feel/understand how you first judged him and to give thought about how you now think about him (Karlo) after seeing the other side of him, as a father.
I have finally edited my video which i am yet to upload as it is saved as a DVD file. The video starts with sound in the background of traffic and peoples voices muttering. The first couple of frames have been split into three rectangular boxes so you can see different angles of Karlo right from the beginning giving you more chance to judge his appearance. I don this by basically copping the three tiles. The next frame was again various shots that i captured over-layed  onto each other with the opacity levels turned down and positioned accordingly. This carries on throughout the video until his daughter (Evie) appears by jumping up from behind, surprising him, taking his cap, immediately showing there close bond. Again, then going into three boxes splitting the footage showing both Evie and Karlo himself and then the center box of them both hugging. Also various shots of them both holding hands and smiling at one another. The final shot is of Karlo lowering Evie to the ground after picking her up to hug her goodbye.
These are what i have chosen to go with as my final 5 posters. I feel that the text works well as its clear to read however, not too fancy. The text is big and bold which will also make it eye catching and hopefully clear to the viewer what the poster is about from a distance. The text works well as i don't think it draws the attention away from the images which is most important.
Change of plan -
I decided too change the layout too make it look formal, clean cut.
These are my actual final ideas...
I also decided to get rid of the Lesbian picture/poster completely as i felt the image was not strong enough compared to the other images i have taken.
My final video -
A short video/documentary based around judgement.
At the start of the video you see Tattoo Karlo for what you perceive him to be, a man covered with tattoo's and nothing more. Then the words that hes saying (voice over) start to change, become more positive, he mentions his daughter, she then comes into screen and hopefully your opinion soon changes. Karlo has more too him than you first see, he has a daughter who he loves which is now what i hope you think of him and the main focus onto his tattoo's has hopefully changed to now how much he loves and cares for his young daughter Evie.
(Not actual daughter, just for the video)
