Weaving Text into Textile, Part One

Both text and textile derive from textere, (Latin) meaning to weave. A quote, poem or song is made up of words repeated in a particular order, just as a pattern is made up of visible marks repeated in a particular way. This project began with a set of my original quotes and the sonnet, Spring, Le Quattro Stagioni (The Four Seasons), written by Antonio Vivaldi, which inspired Concertos 1-4 by the same name. The text was woven into the textiles through the making of original imagery informed by the concept of positive flow in self and in nature during the springtime.
