Created for a university module titled ‘Design Ethics’. The aim was to extend it’s usable life by creating a meaningful relationship with the owner.
It accomplishes this by utilising the principals of open design, allowing the owner to take apart the lamp and customise the simple electronics to their own needs.
The only glue used in the lamp holds the body together. The head is completely dismantlable thanks to the use of non-permanent fixings, and low power LEDs mean that it is completely safe to do so.
The R70 lamp is lightweight, stable and low-profile.
