Space Project
Prof. Gareth Jones
Spring 2016

The purpose of this assignment was to learn how to use space as a medium for displaying a phenomenon. We were assigned to represent a fractal, representational, and abstract piece through using space to create such shapes. We were trained on the laser cutter which made producing these shapes extremely precise and exact.  The end goal of this project was to learn how to have an experience based on space without focusing on the medium used.

Fractal
This piece was made from one base seed shape with three different proportional variations. In this project, I attempted to make a seed shape which had an interesting volumetric silhouette as well as implimenting a visual effect. I was interested in what outcome of the optical illusion of the Moiré Effect would have when place in a expanding modular form.

Representational
With this piece I chose to attempt to represent natural growth formations through this modular form with two variations layered together. The goal was to create a cavernous space that felt organic.
