When looking at movement through objects a narrative can be found that enhances and casts a new light on that object or space. Each study is inspired by the last, taking a piece of the last investigation and exploring it farther. Through creating a link between projects the depth of exploration go deeper. Originally I named this study Holes for the specific shape and depth a hole is but also to allow myself to tunnel through things and dig deeper into them. Weather they be factual or fabricated a narrative of growth reflects upon each study.
Type became an interest for less for the purpose to create words and more for form and shape. The holes and openings within letters are a piece of space that is easily dismissed. I explore the shape of the form in the words RUNNING THROUGH because of its holes, open spaces and curves. I choose the word RUNNING THROUGH particularly because these words reflects my Degree project as a whole and serves as an introduction for the rest of my work.
Salvador Dali became a source of interest because of the way his images warp a relatable world and create a sense of unfamiliarity. Through stubble differences and the use of melting his work given an abandon like quality. Through simultaneously looking at the science fiction movement I noticed that flowers were frequently used to show evolution and a state of progression. I took the opposite approach and dug into the flower taking a look inside of its colorful interior before it grows into its final form.
Looking into Science Fiction and the standards its created throughout the years, color has become a great indication of futuristic aspects. The neon lights not only create a form of space and exploration but the colors and vibrance also takes inspiration from futuristic elements.
Continuing with an interest in science fiction I created a type face based off of multiple science fictional tv show ads and posters. This piece simply explores the shape and letter combinations of the typeface created.
Circling back into exploring natural elements. The combination of computer exploring nature is a concept that I study in this video. The narrative remains fabricated from my own imagination but I continue to build the interior of the rock formation out of other pictures of natural rock formation and manipulate them in the computer.
When natural forms became an interest for most of these studies I was compelled to do one about the body and the insides of us that is rarely seen. The idea of body innards makes me squirm so to recreate a more whimsical demeanor when exploring the body was the key to my study. A combination of digital and analog animation was used to explore a more playful element.
