Throwing up the Earth

Throwing up the Earth (2005) is a stopmotion animation (7'52 minutes) by Dutch filmmaker and video artist Margriet Westerhof. The film is made of mud, sand, water, some paper and a pinch of salt. It has been screened at various international festivals for animation, art film and short film.

It is based upon a myth of creation of the Bushongo people who live in and around Congo. In this myth the god Bumba creates the earth, the sky and all the living creatures by vomiting.
