The Glass Factory

"The Glass Factory" is an animated whirligig telling the story of an old giantess who owns a glass factory run by the help of small tomte elves.
PROCESS

This whirligig is entirely handmade from wood and found materials. The giantess' head was created with Sculpey and her body hand-sewn. The roof features popsicle stick shingles and the feet of the sculpture are repurposed drawer pulls.

The story was inspired by my experience working in a Swedish giftshop. The store sold hundreds of large glass balls that hung from the ceiling. The owner, who was over 6 feet tall, would often hit her head on them when moving through the store.
