Art Department UMN - Screenprinting

My first time screen printing where each layer was a color and could create more colors if layed on top of each other. The subject for this assignment was left to the student so I chose to create something from the space I occupied and my favorite foods.

The difference I learned within the graphic design deaprtment was that the medium could influence the appearance and the aesthetic of the design. Where in the first images of clouds, I experimented with home appliances to create resistance and allowing ink to flow through the screen. Where as in the star backpacks, I created with a more restrained image to let the ink strand out from the cream yellow stars that are both faded in the background and a few crisp and clear ones in designated areas.
