Motion: Time and Space
Choose an instance of motion to study in detail. Complete a series of drawings exploring the representation of your motion subject. Consider the implicit elements of TIME and SPACE associated with your motion. What are their characteristics? Explore how you may use gesture, motion and the actual motion itself to make an indexical mark that reflects the specific qualities of your motion subject.
Motion: Space and Place
Study a PLACE and identify the typical types and characteristics of motion within it. Design a SOCIALLY-ENGAGED WORK that frames, highlights, responds to or disrupts aspects of the socially or commercially sanctioned motion observed in your chosen environment.

Each cigarette end is inserted into one balloon that is filled with air. About a hundred balloons is attached on the two walls next to the staircase. The action of trying to get through this path reflects the feelings of those who want to avoid stepping on the cigarette ends and inhaling second-hand smoke. Also, by exaggerating and emphasizing each cigarette ends, hopefully this installation could show how unconscious human behaviors could change public attitude to a place and alert people to protect our environment by showing equal respect to each places.
Instruction-Based Generative Design
Design an action / event / process / system / algorithm that will result in a physical work. The focus should be on designing the system that will generate the design. The design outcome should be indeterminate - meaning the visual outcome should be discovered through executing the process.
Instruction:
Generate computer data into QR codes. Display the QR codes on 2D surface. The viewer should interact with the codes and the data received.

Purpose:
Throughout the process of generating and transferring various websites, images, videos and sounds, I wish to create the everyday experience of sharing and receiving data in the vast computerized world. This process of receiving, generating and sharing data through different technological devices are becoming more and more common and somehow addicting, which links individuals with more outer information. Although some of the information we get or share is useless, this process already takes up a major role in our life.

Impossible Dream Project

For my dream project, I want to create a giant “greenhouse” that contains a maze garden on the first floor, and a lounge on the second floor. The construction is made out of soundproof glass, so everything is quiet and transparent. An automatic watering system, a thermostat and a humidifier help to maintain the plants to be florist throughout the years. Within the maze garden, 24 different kinds of flowers are planted and each type blossoms at the specific time of the day (more information on the flower clock). The second floor is a basic lounge that includes a library, a piano and a bar. This piece locates at a city center where people on the street could walk pass by seeing the tranquility inside the glass cube. This artwork is inspired by the famous story Alice in Wonderland. Therefore, getting lost in a maze garden has always had a dream quality to me. Most of the people in urban cities live in a fastpaced life. Therefore, this artwork is a place where people could simply shut their phone, slow down the speed and get lost in nature. It is a place for meditation, relaxation, and release.
Final Project: Make an artwork based on the "Impossible Dream Project Proposal"

This piece is inspired by a research on ASMR sound[Autonomous sensory meridian response]. It is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation.ASMR is usually precipitated by stimuli referred to as 'triggers'. ASMR triggers, which are most commonly acoustic and visual, may be encountered through the interpersonal interactions of daily life. Additionally, ASMR is often triggered by exposure to specific audio and video. Such media may be especially made with the specific purpose of triggering ASMR, or originally created for other purposes and later discovered to be effective as a trigger of the experience. My artwork serves as a "trigger" for the ASMR experience by creating sound through a repetitive movement of opening the boxes. Thus, the sensation created by opening and closing the boxes triggers satisfactory and relaxing feelings.
