This project was inspired from nature where I also keep in mind in doing a decoration an a useful think but also keeping in mind that the topic was interlocking so I had to make something which will be interlocking and came up in doing a candle holder which will be interlocked onto each other. This project was done during my course at the MCAST Institute for Creative Arts in Mosta.
This project was also chosen to be exhibited in the end of year exhibition which takes place at MCAST for Creative Arts in Mosta.
I did some research and also on what type and forms candle holder can be and also looked at nature inspiration mostly for my pattern that I wanted in my project. I also did some sketches and developments before choosing the right idea, where then when I choose which one I will be doing I started by doing a template and a test piece to make sure that it can actually be done.
This project was done in the ceramics workshop because that year I choose to be work in the ceramics workshop. Because it was a new subject for me i had to make some research also on what type of clay there is because there are various of different clays. I also talked with the lecturer to see what type of clay i can use because some of the clays you will need a special kilin to fire it , so he also mentioned with me the raku and researched on it and liked how it works and also that particular clay when you fire it it comes with a pattern that was ideal for my project.
The colours i choose was white and orange where the colours were also inspired from nature because we find colour full flowers and leafs in our nature. On the orange one the vines came real as in they are on a leaf because they came with the green colour and the white one came with the black vines.
