Urban impressions of Denver's downtown districts LoDo and Larimer Square area during an April visit in 2009. A light snow fell overnight in the Colorado capitol city. The historic LoDo or Lower Downtown offers architectural, commercial and residential developments that both preserve the original cornerstone character with the addition of modern touches in newer building development. LoDo entertains visitors and residents with an energetic dining, retail and cultural scene. Central downtown close to Larimer Square provides a similar transitional character dotted with high-rises, office blocks and hotels catering to business travelers.
