The roaring 1930s in Shanghai was a short-lived euphoria before the city went under tremendous political reformation. China’s first lady Soong May-Ling emerged as an iron figure who led her country towards newfound modernity.

Intelligent and eloquent, many foreign politicians found Soong the kind of embodiment of the mysterious, beautiful Chinese woman. However, her charismatic looks were not to be undermined.
The Dragon Lady is a short fashion film that progressively reveals the power within a woman. It features a Qi Pao and military jacket that were quintessential pieces of Soong’s iconic style.

Sometimes, dress is but a façade to the soul.
