COLOR THEORY,2015

This was a Color Theory project, done in early 2015. I had minimal exposure to design software at this time.
Abstract design, Description: Menalcholy. Brief story behind the design: As I was using a free hand tool to design the top layer, I decided the shape resembled a tree. Tree is a symbol of a person, a life. Inside of that life I have added hexagons that are referencing chemical bonds. Each of these represents a different chemical in the brain; serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. An imbalance of these chemicals causes depression and effects moods. With the name of "melancholy" I chose dark colors and created this abstract design representing depression.
This design was inspired by a young man with Cerebral Palsy that I have worked with for the past 3 years. He is legally blind and depends a lot on his hearing. He loves music and movies, mainly because of the sounds they provide for him. This image is a representation of soundwaves coming off of a speaker and being received by the ear drum. All of the waves are colorful and the main focus of the piece, as they represent the way this person sees life; through sound.
