These black leather shoes have been with me for a while now.  They have facilitated many days in studios, walks through the winter, and hikes up hills. Now, they’re at a sort of half life. The openings in the soles limit the shoes function to half of the year. This box is a sort of “Limbo” space where the shoes can be forgotten for as long as I need them to be. The lid locks on with a puzzle mechanism. Only those who know its secret can open the box.
“The Way Back” is a shoe box design meant to carve out a space in time and memory. It’s a pocket, to which only a few have access.
