Emotional Memories

Brief: Visit a museum and choose an object of my interest and report back. Presentation of poster to include 1,500 words about the contemporary meanings of the object.

Gist: Emotional memory. It is defined as the storage and recall of events and details that are couple with the physiological response that was present when the event occurred. Here, I talk about a bowl that was found after the destruction of Hiroshima. A significant date in Japan’s history such as August 6, 1945 definitely recalls certain extent of emotions that others would never experience. But also anything that is connected to your senses may be a cue that can ignite emotional recall. A certain place like Hiroshima unquestionably evokes a memory of being there in the past even if we were never actually present during the bombing. This is because of the unpleasant emotions attached to that place. Your intuitive response to a particular song may also be a reminder of the emotion you felt toward someone with whom it is related.
