Sentio Turntables

I have designed a modern turntable that allows users to indulge in the full experience of record listening. Sentio Turntables creates an environment, which celebrates album artwork by giving them a stylish platform to display their illustrations.

Combinations of both traditional and modern technologies have been used to create the Sentio Turntable system. Machined Corain makes up the main body of the turntable and accents the speaker system provided also. To contrast this, a high quality hardwood shelf is located underneath, in order to keep records close and show them off whilst listening.  Being a wall-mounted unit keeps the turntable as the center of attention and entices users to interact and enjoy the experience of listening to records.
Using a combination of raw materials and highly finished details, his turntable challenges the form of rival products, promoting the design as a luxury item.
There is a new generation of vinyl lovers being introduced into 2016. Developing a unit that encompasses modern technology will enable the product to compete with rival competitors, and to be taken seriously in the audio market. Combining this with an area to celebrate artwork, will also change the way in which music is bought, with buyers purchasing the record sleeve first, before exploring the sounds of the record inside.

By positioning the Sentio Turntable on a wall it has had the ability to draw in its consumers to the rich, warm music and show off energetic, sleeve artwork. An element of nostalgia and pride was noticed when the turntable was in use, with people being excited to find their favourite records and share their experiences with the music they listen to.

Through material research and testing the idea soon developed from its initial, brutalist concrete form, to a luxury Corian turntable, accompained by a hardwood shelf. Contemporary details have found themselves through the tonearm`s form and the machined aluminium dials. The inclusion of an altered Samsung HW-H751 speaker and subwoofer has brought the product together, with its ability to also connect with other speakers wirelessly.
From my first experience of searching for a record store, on a hidden Cambridge street, I developed an interest with this format of music and its 'ritual' of listening. Each record comes with a different and unique story captured by its artwork, imprinting itself on its listener to create a personal and nostalgic bond. Personally I feel that the artwork of modern records should be recognised more and not hidden.
