Dedicated to my friend, Grant Nathanson, who passed away in January 2015. In this piece, I recreated my journey of reading Grant's writing and poetry after his death. The content of the piece depicts some of his work that was scribbled out and forgotten (from his notebook I was given). In puzzling back together his scribbled out words, I discovered poems that were truly honest and beautiful.
The poems and notes in my piece are handwritten, mirroring Grant's penmanship. The notes presented inside the wire scribbles were also pulled from his writing. The instructions for this piece read "Peel off my layers, one at a time."
Once the piece is peeled apart, it cannot be put back together.
