Abstract Combine Painting

The "Greatest" Wave
2014
Paper, foamboard, wire, pen, acrylic paint
This piece is a depiction of myself as an environment in an abstract combine painting style. Inspired by The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai and Frank Stella's shaped canvases, it portrays the potential and the dynamicity I have as an artist.
Papers are cut out and layered to create a three dimensional wave form
The circular wires represent reflections of a warm sunlight on a cool ocean
The active gestures of cool toned paint on the background and the splashes of warm toned paint drips represent the hidden potential I have
Foamboard, the canvas, is cut out into puzzle pieces and the corners of them are put together in the center; this symbolizes my creativity of thinking outside the box
