San Antonio Zoo
Rebranding
After working as a summer intern in the graphics department at the San Antonio Zoo, I was really inspired to redesign the image of the zoo for a class project. Although photos of the animals are an important component for any zoo identity, the use of natural colors and patterns seemed like an appropriate approach to creating a consistent "look" for the zoo.

The first step was to develop a new logo. With San Antonio's colorful personality and the successful breeding program at the zoo in mind, I chose the flamingo to represent the SAZ. If you look closely, you can see the initials hidden in his form!
I then created a park brochure with an easy-to-read map that let the symbols speak for themselves.
Finally, I used a series of patterns on the interior signage system to help visitors navigate throughout the park. Feathers and eggs signify birds, scales for reptiles, forks for food, and so on.
